Characteristics of Collothecacea

Foot without toes but with many foot glands. Females mostly sessile. Anterior end with a fannel-like invagination, which is surrounded by bristled point- or tentacle-like appendages of the rotary epidermis. This structure functions as a catcher apparatus. Often with jellyish sheath. Male and immature specimens free-living and with normal rotary organ. Limnic, sometimes also in astuars.
